All The Ridge sites are now a recycling drop-off point for any unused crutches, sticks & frames – we can even take wheelchairs if you’re not sure where else to take them. rbl-logo-222  Poppy Appeal

Once again, the Practice Champions did a sterling job selling poppies to patients and staff at The Ridge, raising another £100. We were pleased to receive the following letter of thanks for all their hard work:

Dear Mr Midgley

Thank you very much for your kind gift of £100.00. It will help us continue to provide serving and ex-Service men and women and their dependents in need with practical, financial or emotional support.

The Royal British Legion was first formed in the aftermath of war in 1921. A century on from the First World War, those serving in the Armed Forces, veterans and their families still call on us for help with almost every aspect of daily life. The problems facing First World War veterans when they returned to the UK continue to affect serving personnel and veterans today: whether living with bereavement or disability, finding employment, or coping with financial stress.

Thanks to the generosity of people like you, The Royal British Legion can continue to provide much needed help and support to the many thousands who call on us in their hour of need.

Once again thank you for your kindness.

Yours sincerely

Charles Byrne
Director of Fundraising
The Royal British Legion

Children in Need 2016

CHILDREN IN NEED 2016 – A massive “Thank You” and “Congratulations” to the Practice Champions for raising £180.70 at their Coffee Morning on November 18th at our Cousen Road surgery. Their voluntary charity work is a credit to them, and what a worthwhile cause!

FANTASTIC NEWS!!! We knew it, but now the experts at the CCG have confirmed that our Practice Champions are the best in Bradford Districts! We are thrilled to report that they have won the CCG Achievement Award, 2016.

This is a note from one of our GP Partners, Dr Gareth James:

“This is testimony to the fantastic work that they do contributing greatly to our patients and our practice through their regular patient activities, waiting room support, health promotion and ongoing behind the scenes feedback and support. We are so pleased their excellent work has been recognised more widely through this award as the self-giving contribution they make is an example to us and to the wider healthcare community. WELL DONE, and much deserved.”

Epilepsy Service

A recent addition for us is helping with the epilepsy support service, BEST (Bradford Epilepsy Support Team). They meet at Great Horton every 4th Monday from 13.00 to 15.00 and provide a chance for carers and members to meet and enjoy activities. Charity Fund-Raising

Our Knit & Natter group were recently proud to donate £100 to Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, which was matched pound for pound by The Sun and Disneyland Paris. This brings our total donations to £1,900 since 2014. Thank you to everyone who runs and attends these enjoyable sessions.

The hard-working Practice Champions here at The Ridge held a Cake Sale and Tombola for Children in Need last year and raised a fantastic £280!
